Infrequently Asked Questions
How much is delivery?
Because I appreciate the enthusiasm of my loyal customers, postage and packing to the UK is now just £2 - however many things you order, and however much you spend.
International postage depends on region and weight, and can be seen before checking out. Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply, and I cannot be responsible for any delay caused by customs.
How soon do you deliver?
I will dispatch your order first class within 5 working days, but often sooner. If you desperately need something quickly, please email me to check if it's possible.
Do you do commissions?
Sometimes. If you want a neat replica of your computer-designed business logo on some polo shirts, you can get a much better deal elsewhere. If, however, you'd like something with a bit of personality that's unique and artistic, email me and we can see what's possible - no commitment until I start making stencils.
Water-based inks, eh? Do they wash okay?
Very okay. I have tested the inks hard both scientifically (writing things in notebooks and comparing curing times), and in real life (worn by kids in mud, sea, chocolate and washed in dodgy campsite washing machines). Because the ink soaks in to the fibres*, there's none of the cracking and peeling that you get from most printed t-shirts, and the design just gets softer as the t-shirt is worn and washed. I would recommend sticking to a 30 degree wash, as it's better for clothes and the environment.
*Note very light colours on dark backgrounds (ie mosquito and bike by window designs) use a thicker ink which can be felt on the surface, but still has the great washability and peel-resistance of the regular ink).
What does it mean to be an ethical business?
For me it's about making every business decision thoughtfully, and making every effort possible to avoid harming other people or the environment. That sounds straightforward, but it's not the driving force of most businesses! Find out more here.
I'm buying it as a gift - will the recipient know that I've been supporting art and buying ethically?
All products are tagged with the LOST SHAPES tag and strap-line 'hand printed, organic & fair'., and packaged in a printed card belly band. All packaging is printed on recycled card with environmentally friendly inks.
What's the sizing like?
I use a variety of cuts and styles depending on the design, and every product listing has a size chart in the images on that page. For best results compare to a top that you know fits well (I know, it's a bit annoying, but it's nice to get it right!). Lost Shapes tops are made from a good quality fabric, so there is very little shrinkage if washed at a low temperature.
What if I need to return something?
You can return your purchase up to 14 days* after you have received it, and item cost plus initial delivery charge will be refunded, or an exchange sent to you. Return shipping will only be refunded if there was a problem with the item. As with any hand made art, product will vary slightly from the photo; slight imperfections are to be expected, but I won't send out anything sub-standard.
Returns should be sent to: Anna Brindle, Lost Shapes, 31 Fruitfields Close, Devizes, SN10 5JY, UK, and accompanied by an email to LostShapes@lostshapes.com giving details of return. Telephone enquiries to 01380 721441, but please note that this is a family business run from home and I may not always be available.
*I am happy to take exchanges or returns up until 14th Jan for items bought in the run up to Christmas.
