Up until now 'The Lost Shapes Studio' has been a corner of the garage: dark and unloved and surrounded on all sides by oily bike parts, wellies and mouldy camping equipment.
It's still a corner of the garage, but it's now a well-defined corner with interior walls, overhead lighting and enough insulation to hopefully steer off another winter of frost-bitten printing.

The way Lost Shapes works is very simple, with none of the fancy equipment you might see in more commercial print studios. To use the small space efficiently, everything needs to be in just the right place, ready to prepare, print, dry and finish. To use the space inspirationally, I have a few things that aren't strictly speaking practical, but somehow important.
Time will tell if it all works, but it's already feeling like home!

These are a few of my favourite things:

1. The library steps. Picked up from a bin at a college in Bristol. There are more practical shelves, but none with as much character.

2.  BBC 6music and a cup of tea. The essential accompaniments to a printing session. Caramel wafer optional.

3. The drying rack. I don't know how I'd survive without it. You can even see how much I love it from the slightly crazed grin below.

4. T-shirts. Boxes of beautiful fresh soft organic cotton. Even the smell is good.

5. Milleni-yum poster. It really doesn't aid printing in any way, but I'm so glad we finally found a place to display it after 14 years. An important slice (yep, that's a pun) of history, captured in a pie poster.

    NO MORE BLOGGING

I stopped writing this blog a while ago - social media just seems a more responsive way to share ideas these days (plus I never got 'round to it!). I'll leave these posts up for now for anyone who wants to get a bit more of a sense of what's behind what I do.
